My dog goes BANANAS around the 4th of July, and I feel so bad for her! The slightest hint of a firecracker and she’s shaking like a leaf, trying to find something to hide beneath.

You know if your pet has anxiety, a holiday like Independence Day can be tricky to manage. Here’s a few tips on how to prepare as a pet parent:

1. Be sure your pet is wearing an up-to-date and visible ID tag on his or her collar at all times

2. Take a current photo of your dog, just in case

3. Exercise your dog early in the day before parties begin

4. Keep charcoal, fireworks, sparklers and glow sticks far from curious pups

5. Leave your dog a frozen stuffed treat during fireworks

6. If your dog is afraid of loud noises, leave gentle music playing to cover the fireworks

Of course, you can always try and trick them into a nap with you, as showcased here:

Either way, I hope you and your pets have a fab 4th of July!
