We had a biologist call in this morning and confirm that there are more invasive animals in Florida than anywhere else in the world.
This is entirely the case with pythons. Apparently we’re so overrun with them that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced Monday that it’s launching a “Python Pickup Program,” in which anybody who captures a python in the wild can simply submit a photo of the snake he or she caught in order to win.
So any local yahoo is being encouraged to go wrangle a python?! Why do I feel like this is a terrible idea?!
Each amateur snake-snatcher gets a “Python Pickup” T-shirt (oh well SIGN ME UP) and is entered into a drawing for prizes that include a $100 gas card.
