Taylor Swift’s new album ‘Reputation’ sold around 700,000 copies in the U.S. on release day, which was this past Friday.
The album could sell over 1 million copies in the first week. According to industry sources, it is on track to earn Swift her largest sales week yet.
If ‘Reputation’ sells over 1 million copies in the first week, it will secure Swift her fourth album with a million-selling week. She’s already the only act to have three different albums sell a million copies in a week.
Taylor’s last three studio albums all launched with more than 1 million sold in their first weeks: 1989 (1.29 million), Red (2012, 1.21 million) and Speak Now (2010, 1.05 million).
On top of kick-ass sales, Taylor Swift was the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” and performed “Ready For It” and “Call It What You Want.”
Her mic was shaped like a snake, the symbol for her new album, “Reputation.”
She never specifically explains why the snake, but it seems it may have something to do with her feud Kim Kardashian and especially Kanye West.
Taylor is selling snake jewelry and snake attire on her website.
