Here’s the thing. I don’t complain (publicly) too often. But yesterday’s experience at Target had me in my “can I speak to the manager” feels.
I needed a booster seat for my 4-year-old daughter. In a stroke of luck, the Graco Turbo Booster was on SALE! There were two seats there, one on sale for $39.99 and one on sale for $47.49. What was the difference in these two booster seats, you may ask?
The pink car seat costs $8 more.
I looked for other differences. None. Just the pink trim. Apparently pink fabric costs more than gray trim?! WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?! And which one do you think my daughter wanted? The pink one. Of course. Did little homegirl get the pink one? Absolutely not. I’m not paying extra for that crap, out of principle!
And it doesn’t stop with car seats. Ladies, we are being scammed for “female” versions of products all the time. You ever try to buy women’s razors? Yeah, they cost more than the men’s. I actually ran across a video explaining the phenomenon of the “Pink Tax” recently:
Ladies, we need to band together here. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Either make pink shit the same price or stop making pink shit!
